Reporting to: Clinical Supervisor Location: Liverpool | Southport | Stockport (NHS COVID-19 Vaccination Centre) Job Purpose
The COVID-19 vaccinator will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering a safe and effective service for the delivery of COVID-19 vaccines. The post holder will be responsible for administering the vaccine to patients. They will be a part of the clinical team under the direction and supervision of a clinical supervisor (registered healthcare professional). In particular the post holder will be responsible for:
Configuration of their vaccination station
Adherence to infection control practices at all times
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Follow standard operating procedure for the safe disposal of clinical waste and sharps waste
Follow standard operating procedure for and donning/doffing PPE
Administration of the vaccine to patients who have been clinically pre-screened and consented to receiving a COVID-19 vaccination
Be able to respond to and raise issues or concerns with the registered health care professional, supervisor on complications or emergency situations
Respond to queries appropriately and liaise with the clinical supervisor where further advice or information is required
Undertake mandatory and clinical training and any other training relevant to the role as required.
Undertake Face to Face training in vaccine administration, basic life support and anaphylaxis as required
Complete the COVID-9 vaccination competency assessment under the supervision of the clinical supervisor
Participate in audits as required
Maintain knowledge of the COVID-19 vacation programme
Effectively use IT support systems to enhance direct and indirect care delivery
Educated to NVQ 3 level in a relevant subject or equivalent level of qualification and short courses or significant clinical equivalent previous proven experience.
E-learning for health certification for the following modules: Statutory & Mandatory Training; Immunisation Training; Covid-19 core knowledge and vaccine specific training; Anaphylaxis Training
Mandatory face-to-face training will be provided to undertake specific COVID -19 vaccination.
Competency assessment will be completed as a part of the induction process.
Knowledge and Experience
Commitment and willingness to undertake learning and development courses as required to ensure competency for role, this will include vaccine training, administration training, basic life support and NHS statutory and mandatory training
Understanding of Confidentiality and Data Protection Act
An ability to maintain confidentiality and trust and an awareness of information governance requirements and data protection
Good communication skills
Ability to work as part of a team and actively participate in team meetings
Able to maintain and record accurate documentation of interactions between clients, colleagues and other agencies in the appropriate legal records
Analytical and judgment skills: Able to make decisions appropriate to role, seeking advice from a registered healthcare professional when required; Work according to protocols under the clinical supervision of a healthcare professional
Planning and organisational skills: Able to work flexibly and respond to changing demands in workload; Able to prioritise own work and support the team daily
Physical skills: Standard keyboard skills and IT literacy

As Volunteers (COVID-19 Vaccinations) you will help by guiding people at COVID-19 vaccination sites.
Expected time commitment: Days, evenings and weekends available Function: COVID19 Vaccination Support Line managed by: Practio UK
Duties & Responsibilities:
Attend COVID-19 vaccination sites and guide people around the vaccination site as directed by the clinical supervisor.
Adhere to the policy and procedures of Practio UK, including specifically an awareness of the limits of both training and authorisation (including insurance) for additional skills authorised to be used.
Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control policies and guidance at all times.
Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
Decision making capability, both when working alone or working as part of a team.
Able to work alone or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Commitment to giving high quality care.
Able to effectively communicate with others, whilst paying due regard to patient confidentiality.

The training we will provide for you prior to commencing your volunteer Steward role. This will be as follows:
A welcome session by the UK Leads.
Introduction to the role of the steward.
